How to download a digital Aadhaar card.

As per Aadhaar Act, you can use e-Aadhaar just like Aadhaar card.

e-Aadhaar (Electronic Aadhaar Card) is a password protected pdf file that you can use anywhere.

Step 1. Search the official website of uidai on Google.

Step 2. Then click on the Get Aadhaar option.

Step 3. Then click on Download Aadhaar.

Quick Tip - If you don't want to do the above 3 steps, search eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in on Google and you will reach the page of step 4.

Step 4. Now you enter your 12 digits Aadhaar card number and fill in the following captcha code as instructed.

Now you will get the option to download the entire Aadhaar card or you can download the masked Aadhaar card. (Masked Aadhaar card means the 8 digits of the beginning of your Aadhaar card will be hidden so you do not need to give your original Aadhaar card number.)

Step 5. Now you have to click on Get OTP (one-time-password) and OTP will come to your registered mobile number.

Step 6. Now a new window will open and you have to enter this OTP there. (Note - this OTP will be invalidated in 10 minutes, meaning you will not be able to use this OTP after 10 minutes.)

Step 7. After entering OTP you have to fill a survey and then click on Verify and Download option. After doing so, your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded to your device.

Step 8. The Pdf that has been downloaded to your device will be password protected, so to open it, enter 4 letters from the beginning of your name and the year of your birth. Your e-Aadhaar will open. (Note - Enter 4 letters of your name in the capital and make sure that no space is left between your name and the year of birth by mistake.)


To download your e-Aadhaar you have to follow the steps mentioned above and your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded. Now you can use this e-Aadhaar instead of your Aadhaar card. (As per Aadhaar Act)
